Rachel Schneider

Rachel Schneider is a Senior Vice President at CFSI. She is an expert on financial health and how an innovative financial services marketplace can improve the lives of Americans. Under her leadership, CFSI has produced data-driven research about consumers and providers, including the Compass Principles, which are aspirational standards to inspire providers, policymakers and others in the industry to create services that build financial health. Rachel is also a co-Principal Investigator on the U.S. Financial Diaries research study, a ground-breaking project that collected highly detailed data about how 235 households save, spend, borrow and plan. Rachel is a sought-after consultant who speaks and publishes broadly about issues in consumer finance, offering frank, insightful assessments of the financial challenges facing the majority of Americans. Her research has been featured in the nation’s top publications, such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, and many others, and she speaks frequently at a broad spectrum of convenings, from Money2020 to Federal Reserve Board, FDIC and CFPB conferences to CFED’s Assets Learning Conference. She currently participates on the Advisory Boards for the Expanding Prosperity Impact Collaborative (EPIC) at the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program and the CommonCents Lab, a project of the Center for Advanced Hindsight. Though she began her career as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch & Co., Rachel credits her commitment to the potential for innovative finance to solve major social problems from her days as a VISTA Volunteer (now AmeriCorps). She holds a J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. from UC Berkeley. She lives in New York City with her husband, Benjamin Marks, and their children, Isabel and Ezra. She occasionally “competes” in triathlons, which are getting easier to “win” as the number of competitors in her age group shrinks. Unfortunately, the same improvements cannot be said of her piano skills. - See more at: http://www.cfsinnovation.com/About-Us/Our-Team/Rachel-Schneider#sthash.U13Napv8.dpuf
