Barclays Wealth, the wealth management arm of Barclays Bank, launched eight new actively managed portfolios of passive exchange-traded products Oct. 1.

The Barclays Wealth ETF Tactical Allocation BETA Portfolios are separately managed accounts consisting of passive ETFs and ETNs, which use active management to offer BETA returns. The BETA Plus will implement recommendations from the Barclays’ Global Investment Strategy Group, led by its head of investment strategy Aaron Gurwitz. The family of portfolios is designed for investors with at least $10 million in investable assets who are looking to open smaller actively managed accounts for, say, a trust, the firm says.

Barclays Wealth first launched a similar actively managed SMA in the U.K. last year, where it has picked up moderate speed.
