BNY Mellon Wealth Management is a few steps closer to meeting its ambitious recruiting goals. The wealth manager on Monday announced hiring two senior directors for posts in San Francisco and Westborough, Mass.

Peter Balesano joined the firm as senior director of business development in Westborough, a key wealth market for the New England region, according to BNY Mellon. Balesano was previously manager of the wealth management group for People’s United Bank and has 25 years of investment management experience.

Caroline Lee-Tsao joined BNY Mellon in San Francisco as senior director, portfolio management. She will lead a San Francisco-based team of client relationship managers and portfolio managers. Before joining BNY Mellon, Lee-Tsao was a senior vice president of investments with Progress Investment Management Company. Prior to that, she was a managing director and portfolio manager at Charles Schwab Investment Management where she managed multi-asset funds, including a $1.9 billion top-quartile Morningstar international fund.

Both hires are part of BNY Mellon’s campaign to increase its nationwide sales force and add private and mortgage bankers and other professionals in top U.S. wealth markets. At the end of the second quarter, BNY Mellon had hired 15 of the 50 sales directors it planned to add to the advisor force by the end of 2014.
