HOLLYWOOD, FLA. - Two bank brokerage executives have lost their jobs, according to rumors at the Bank Insurance and Securities Association conference.
Brad Grubb, who had been president and chief executive officer of Los Angeles’ Bank of the West’s BancWest Investment Services Inc., is networking at the conference and so is John Allen of Union Bank of California, who reportedly lost his job a few days ago.
Rumor has it that executives hired at both banking companies wanted to make their own stamp on the brokerage units. Richard Byrd was hired by Bank of West as a senior executive vice president about a year ago. Steven M. Short was named chief executive officer of UnionBanc Investment Services, Inc, a subsidiary of Union Bank of California. Short had been CEO of U.S. Bancorp Investment Services Inc. in June 2007.
Meanwhile Dan Overby, who lost his job as head of Colonial Bank's investment program when BB&T took over Colonial, was hired to run United Bank's program in Florida.
