Webster Bank has promoted an executive vice president of Consumer Finance to lead its Personal Bank, which includes Webster Investment Services, the Waterbury, Conn.-based financial institution announced Tuesday.

Nitin Mhatre will be responsible for all aspects of Webster’s Personal Bank, which in addition to Webster Investment Services includes Consumer Deposits as well as Distribution. He will also continue to oversee the Consumer Finance group, which provides mortgages, home equity loans, credit cards and other consumer loans to customers in the bank’s four-state region.

Prior to joining Webster in October 2008 as executive vice president of Consumer Lending, Mhatre worked at Citigroup in St. Louis, Mo., and Stamford, Conn., in various capacities. In his most recent position, he was the managing director for the Home Equity Retail business for CitiMortgage based in Stamford.

“Webster is redefining what it means to be customer-centric by employing the right mix of online and mobile technology, conveniently located banking centers, and knowledgeable, helpful bankers to meet customers’ financial needs,” Jerry Plush, president and chief operating officer of Webster, said in a statement. “Nitin will apply the energetic leadership capabilities he has demonstrated to make Webster’s Personal Bank a best-in-class business.”
