Northern Trust announced Wednesday it promoted Lee Woolley to director of advisory services.

He will be responsible for the national coordination of advisory services to Northern Trust clients including the distribution of advice along with the staffing, training and continuing education of advisors. He reports to Charlie Mueller, the Chicago-based company’s wealth advisory services leader.

Woolley, who has worked for Northern Trust for 25 years, was president of Northern Trust Bank of Massachusetts in Boston. He was responsible for leading the bank's efforts in the Northeast and providing financial services to high net-worth individuals and families.

The advisory services practice was established to help Northern Trust’s advisors understand the financial goals of clients in order to offer them specific wealth management services. The practice offers real estate, financial planning, family governance and education, philanthropy, family business, tax planning and wealth transfer.
